ACES (Aventura City of Excellence School) is Aventura’s K-8 charter school. I have been an ACES mom since 2012, and the shows are some of my favorite events! Watching my children perform is always such an emotional experience. They dedicate so much time to learning the dances, and I’m constantly amazed by how well they remember every step.
I know I’m not alone in expressing how grateful I am that ACES offers our children so many extracurricular activities. Having dance as an elective has been particularly wonderful. It gives our children a chance to physically move around and express their creativity.
The success of these showcases can be attributed largely to one person: Ms. Arguelles the dedicated and talented dance teacher. One of her standout qualities is her knack for choreography. Ms. Arguelles doesn’t just create dance routines for Aventura’s K-8 charter school; she tells stories through movement. Her choreography is intricate and emotionally resonant, often drawing on themes that resonate with the students’ experiences and the broader community. Whether it’s a powerful contemporary piece about overcoming adversity or a lively jazz number celebrating unity and diversity, her work captivates audiences.
The positive atmosphere at ACES is evident, from the engaged and motivated students to the passionate and innovative educators. It was a place where learning is dynamic and inclusive, preparing students not just academically, but as thoughtful, proactive members of society.
