Why should you choose Fort Lauderdale’s Bonnet House for your next family photoshoot?
FIRST, a little history because you’re probably wondering what this house is… Bonnet House is an estate turned museum. It began in the early 1900s on land owned by Hugh Taylor Birch. His daughter Helen and her husband, artist Frederic Bartlett, built the home as a winter retreat. After Helen’s death, Frederic later returned with his second wife, Evelyn. Together, they added many of the details visitors still enjoy today. After Frederic passed, Evelyn continued visiting each winter. In 1983, she donated Bonnet House to protect it for future generations. Today, Bonnet House Museum and Gardens is a protected historic site in Fort Lauderdale. Now, getting back to WHY Bonnet House is the perfect spot for a family photoshoot….
- Bonnet House gives families space to move and breathe during sessions.
- There are many backdrops within short walking distance so kids stay interested and curious because each area feels a little different. (Happy Kids = Happy Parents)
- Bonnet House offered quiet paths, shaded areas, and soft light.
- This location works well for families who want variety without feeling rushed.
- The grounds allow kids to explore while staying close.
- Also, the staff was VERY friendly!

I have photographed this family for many years now, and each session feels familiar and comfortable from the start. The girls know me well, which helps everyone relax quickly and enjoy the session without pressure. That comfort makes a big difference in how natural the photos feel.
Mom always puts together the cutest outfits for each session, and she has such a great eye.
The colors work beautifully without feeling forced or overly styled.
Each outfit fits the season and location perfectly while still feeling true to the girls.
They always look polished and playful, but still very much themselves.
Watching these kids grow up through my camera has been incredibly meaningful to me.
I remember when they were much smaller and needed frequent breaks during sessions.
Now they walk together with ease, confidence, and a strong sense of connection.

I love the Bonnet House!! What a great idea.
